Their Majesties’ Red Van, 18, of Halifax Nova Scotia, died on December 8th 2006, just outside of Peterborough, Ontario. The death came following a long bought of Gear-lugging and “Check Engine Light” ignoring. She is survived by her loving family; Andrew Erskine, Brian O’Reilly, Daniel Girard, Panos Giannoulis, and Niall Skinner.
The Van was born in 1988, and worked as a City Vehicle in the Fire Department for
the better part of 15 years. It was instrumental in pushing for amendments to then lax smoke detector laws, saving countless lives. In 2004, it retired from the force to pursue personal interests. From 2004 until its death, it assisted The Porcelain Gods, and later Their Majesties, in their music-making endeavors. This retirement allowed the Van to see the country it was proud to call home. From the craggy peak of Kelly’s mountain to the heart of the Canadian Shield; from the laid back feel of the countryside to the bustle of the city - The Van experienced all this, and more. Sadly, it never lived to see the great expanse of the prairies, or the majesty of the Rocky Mountains.
Certainly, the Van had its share of personal problems; Bizarre, customized parts. Holes in the floor. Strange rattling noises. Constant repairs. Multiple Breakdowns. Poor Handling. Gas Guzzling. Outstanding parking tickets in certain Ontarian Cities. But who among even the best of us can claim perfection? After all - to err is human, but to forgive; Machine.
Their Majesties wish to acknowledge the debt of gratitude they owe this automobile. Without its loving and faithful guidance, they would not be where they are today. Thank you.
Goodnight, sweet prince. May flights of Smart Cars sing thee to thy rest.
